Kingdom Hearts in 3D?

Kingdom Hearts 3D is the working title of an upcoming game developed and published by Square Enix exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS, revealed at E3 2010. It is being created by the same development team that worked on Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. The game will be an entirely new chapter and the seventh installment in the Kingdom Hearts series.

The word 3D in the name is actually a short form for the subtitle of the game, though it is currently unknown at this point. Nevertheless, Nomura pointed it did not stand for "3 Dimension".

Kingdom Hearts 3D is the next major installment in the franchise after Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Tetsuya Nomura, the creator of the series, has also emphasized the mystery element of the story, vaguely stating that the game will "tear down past elements" and that players should expect the unexpected. He has confirmed that the theme of the game is trust.

The game features Sora and Riku (seen in the trailer in the first game's attires) as the two main characters of the game, and is set after the events of Kingdom Hearts coded.

It has been confirmed that they will attempt to feature brand new Disney worlds to the series, although some previously seen worlds such as Traverse Town will appear. Despite Sora and Riku being shown in their original Kingdom Hearts attires, the game is set after Kingdom Hearts II. Nomura has stated that they will be depicted this way for a specific reason. The game's story will also be connected to Kingdom Hearts III, which is still under development.
